Welcome, lawyers. This season on the Wildly Successful Law Firm podcast, I’m talking about productivity and time management. Our main character, your client, will be Cinderella. This isn’t a fairy tale, but rather a nightmarish story of what most lawyers experience every day: shitty productivity, unbilled hours, and constantly feeling like you are doing too much and at the same time, not doing enough.
You all know the story of Cinderella, or at least some version of it.
Evil stepmother and stepsisters, pumpkin carriage, glass slipper, falls in love with the Prince, happily ever after, blah blah blah…
We’re picking up this story from where Disney left off - life after marriage to the Prince.
Cinderella has decided that she wants her childhood home back, the home that her evil stepsisters and stepmother took from her. She also wants to sue them for intentional infliction of emotional distress (my personal favorite tort from law school), and a slew of other claims. Getting Cinderella as a client would be a huge win for your firm, because she’s backed by the Prince’s deep pockets. We’re talking cash, real estate, gold bars, BTC, all of it. He’s got that ollddddddd money.
Cinderella is interviewing potential attorneys and you’re on the shortlist.
Let’s say she emails you.
What happens?
Option 1: You see the email immediately and respond
Option 2: It goes to your spam folder because that’s just your luck
Option 3: The email gets lost in your inbox, along with your other unread emails
Option 4: You treat your email like your to-do list, and check it 788 times each day, even when you’re taking a shit.
I’ve browsed through SEVERAL of my clients email inboxes, and let me tell you, that shit is SCARY!
The number of unread emails, spam emails, notifications, is alarming and a focus KILLER.
Bad email habits are what bad breath is on a first date: a deal breaker, you’re going home alone, watching House of Dragons alone, and that’s that.
If you’ve ever lost a client or a lead or a referral partner relationship because of your bad email habits, then this week’s podcast episode is for you.
I’m sharing 10 email tips that will help you reduce your email inbox anxiety and help you to be more productive as a lawyer.
To your wild success,
Nermin doesn’t have an email app on her phone Jasani, Esq.
